Describe in more detail any volunteer activity that was particularly meaningful to you.:
This year, the town of Rogue River was a recipient of a Hiroshima Peace Tree. The tree is a gingko that was grown from seeds that survived the Hiroshima disaster, and exposure to radiation. The Tree City Committee is responsible now for planting it and maintaining it. I was part of the group that applied for the tree, and then planned the site and planted it. We had planned for a special ceremony to bring attention to the importance of Peace after such horrific disasters, and how a tree can be the symbol of peace. But alas, due to the pandemic at hand, we did not have the ceremony. But the gingko tree is planted and we will do the ceremony in the coming year or two.
